55th Figawi Race Returns To Nantucket On Saturday

The 55th annual Figawi sailboat race from Hyannis to Nantucket is set for this Saturday, with hundreds of boats registered and ready to carry on the annual event that signifies the official start of the season on Nantucket. The Nantucket Boat Basin will go from being virtually empty to swarming with activity as the sailboats arrive this weekend.

Figawi Events Rundown

At 3 p.m. on Friday, May 22, there will be a welcome party at the Hyannis Yacht Club (Lower Level, 490 Ocean Street) featuring a cash bar and grill, entertainment, merchandise, sponsor tables, and live music.

At 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, the warning signal for the 55th Annual Hyannis to Nantucket pursuit race will go off. The starting location will be off the Hyannisport Jetty and the finish location will be off the entrance to Nantucket Harbor. 

Nantucket shoreside events include the Figawi Merchandise Tent, which will be open from 12-6 p.m. on Saturday, the sponsor marketplace from 3-6 p.m., and the Figawi Sailors Party in the Figawi Main Tent from 7-10 p.m.

On Sunday, May 24th at the Nantucket Boat Basin Docks, the merchandise tent will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The sponsor marketplace will be open from 12-6 p.m. The Figawi awards presentation will take place in the Figawi Main Tent at 4 p.m., and the Figawi Finale Party will be held in the Figawi Main Tent from 7-10 p.m.
