Alicia Graziadei has been named the next Director of the Nantucket Community School, Nantucket Superintendent of Schools Beth Hallett announced early Monday morning. Graziadei's first day will be Monday, July 11.
Graziadei spent last year as the Nantucket New School's Dean of Studies and Head of Upper School after nine years as a teacher at all grade levels K-8.
Alicia has worn several different hats over the years. She has been an advisor to Veritas, the Nantucket High School student newspaper, and a reporter for the Inquirer and Mirror. Hallett said Graziadei stated that she would put forth the same drive, innovation, and hard-working spirit to the Community School that she has delivered to the New School over the past decade.
"As a passionate lifelong learner, it would give me great joy to support the years of education and opportunity that have been provided to our island community through this organization," Graziadei said in her letter.
Tracy Nichols, the former director of the Community School, has accepted a position to become the Nantucket Resource Partnership's Executive Director. Her first day will be Friday.
The NRP was founded in January 2022 and is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop community-wide systems that will enhance the provision of social services on Nantucket.
Disclosure: Graziadei is the wife of Nantucket Current Editor Jason Graziadei
