Bloom Bar To Open In June On South Water Street

More changes are coming to Nantucket's downtown restaurant scene on South Water Street.
Bloom Bar, which got its start last summer on weekends on the patio of The Boarding House, serving breakfast bites, pastries, and cocktails, is getting its own location at 9 South Water Street. Proprietor Dylan Cavaliere told the Current that he hopes to have the establishment up and running by early June, offering "dinner service in addition to a cafe / fast-casual a.m. service."
Cavaliere previously worked at Cru restaurant in management and private events for eight years, and has been a familiar face in the downtown restaurant scene, working intermittently at several other establishments, including Dune, Ventuno, Straight Wharf, and The Brotherhood of Thieves.
Bloom Bar is replacing the Misogi Noodle Bar, which opened in 2024 following the closure of The Beet. Misogi Noodle Bar was called before the Select Board last September for violations of its liquor license permit, but no representatives of the business appeared at the meeting. Misogi Noodle Bar was accused of operating outdoor dining with alcohol “well past 10 p.m.” without a permit and allowing alcohol to leave the premises. The Select Board confirmed a cease and desist order against the bar’s outdoor dining, but opted to continue the hearing on the other charge to allow the bar to make its case. The case never came back before the Select Board, and now likely never will.
Before The Beet, the space was formerly occupied by the year-round favorite Fog Island Cafe, which closed in 2018 after a 25-year run.
In addition to Bloom Bar, another South Water Street location is also expected to be revived soon under new management when the former Atlantic Cafe / Sea Dog Brew Pub / Nix's / Charlie Noble spot at 15 South Water Street reopens as "The Dive" bar and restaurant by the Sneaky Good Hospitality group following an extensive renovation over the past year.
