Artist and musician Brad Smith has dropped out of the race for Select Board, town clerk Nancy Holmes confirmed Friday morning.

Smith, who works part-time at the Nantucket Food Pantry and organizes with the left-leaning political action group Indivisible Nantucket, is the second candidate to drop out of the race after Amy Eldridge announced her withdrawal on April 6th.

There are two open seats on the Select Board, and there are now only two candidates on the ballot: Finance Committee chair Jill Vieth and perennial candidate Clifford Williams. Former Select Board member and charter boat captain Bob DeCosta has also announced a write-in campaign. Both incumbents, Malcolm MacNab and Tom Dixon, have declined to run.

The deadline to withdraw was Friday, April 17th at 4 p.m.

Smith did not immediately return a request for comment.
