Nantucket Golf Club's Charity Classic Raises Over $9 Million For Island Children

The Nantucket Children’s Charity Classic raised over $9 million during its 25th anniversary event earlier this month. The money raised from the Children’s Classic supports island families and children and is the sole annual fundraiser for the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation (NGCF), which has spent over two decades investing in organizations and initiatives that directly benefit the Nantucket's youth. 

“This 25th anniversary is an extraordinary milestone, not simply because of what was raised this year, but because of what this community has accomplished together over the past quarter century,” said Tom Bresette, executive director of the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation, in a press release. “The generosity of our members, donors, sponsors, volunteers and supporters continues to make a profound and lasting difference in the lives of Nantucket’s children.”

Since its inception, the foundation has awarded grants to over 100 Nantucket nonprofit organizations serving children, and supported 150 students through its scholarship programs. At the direction of the Club's Board of Directors, with an eye toward growing need and a growing scholarship commitment, the foundation has also built a strong endowment to ensure long-term sustainability and sustained community impact.

At the Charity Classic’s dinner and auction, attendees viewed a film that put the Club's impact at center stage. It was produced by Yellow Productions, highlighting scholarship and grant recipients whose lives and organizations have been touched by the NGCF. Through their stories, the film offered a powerful look at the tangible impact of the Foundation’s work and the reach of the generosity behind the Children’s Charity Classic.

Building on that legacy, Bresette announced a significant new commitment from the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation of $1 million to Nantucket Cottage Hospital in support of pediatric – and student athlete-specific therapeutic spaces within the hospital’s planned Gouin Village clinical facility.

The investment reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting not only the immediate needs of Nantucket’s children, but also transformational projects that will strengthen resources available to island families for generations to come.

Bresette also introduced Nantucket Golf Club founder and philanthropist Ed Hajim as Chairman of the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation, marking an important new chapter in the Foundation’s leadership as it enters its next 25 years of service to the community.

“Reaching our 25th year gives us an opportunity to celebrate everything this community has made possible, but it also gives us an opportunity to look forward,” Bresette said. “There is still so much we can do together. The incredible generosity we witnessed this year ensures that the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation can continue making meaningful investments in Nantucket’s children for many years to come."
