Coast Guard Station Brant Point made a trip to the island’s food pantry Thursday morning to deliver 1,000 donated food items collected over the course of three nights from individuals who attended the station’s pirate-themed haunted house from October 29 to October 31.

Master Chief Andrew Babione told the Current on Tuesday that the station had 1,187 guests over the course of the three nights.

“The crew members of Coast Guard Station Brant Point would like to thank all members of the community that made this years haunted house attraction a success,” Babione said. "Numerous volunteers from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, various Town of Nantucket departments and friends and family all played a role in making the performance possible. It was a great experience to connect with so many members of the community. Plans are already in place for the Coast Guard Haunted House for 2023. We were happy to provide this event to make a positive impact on the community beyond our daily mission. We wanted to support the food pantry as well as provide a safe environment for families of all ages to enjoy the Halloween tradition.”

The event was also made possible by the Station Brant Point Spouses Club and Ray Sylvia at the Nantucket DPW.
