Dreamland Announces New "Fred Rogers Good Neighbor Award"

The Nantucket Dreamland has announced a new award to be presented at its upcoming July 23rd DreamBIG Event. The Fred Rogers Good Neighbor Award will recognize the outstanding contributions of an individual who has gone above and beyond in their efforts to make Nantucket a better place through their time, talents, and dedication to the community.
"This award reflects our commitment to supporting and celebrating those who make a positive impact on our island," said Alicia L. Carney, executive director of the Nantucket Dreamland. “For generations of people, the late Fred Rogers exemplified what it meant to be a good neighbor. With the blessing of his family, this namesake award will honor individuals in our community who are keeping Mister Rogers’ legacy of kindness, humility, and generosity alive on Nantucket.”
The Dreamland is inviting members of the community to nominate candidates for The Fred Rogers Good Neighbor Award. Nominees can be any resident of Nantucket who has consistently demonstrated qualities of compassion and service to the community through volunteer activities. The recipient will be chosen by a committee composed of Dreamland board members and community leaders. The Dreamland's annual DreamBIG fundraiser on July 23rd raises funds to support the theater's live event programming, films, Dreamland Stage Company, educational programming, and community partnerships and initiatives.
"We are excited to launch this new award and look forward to honoring a deserving member of the Nantucket community during a fun and celebratory evening, while raising critical funds to support the Dreamland," said Carney.
Nominations for “The Fred Rogers Good Neighbor Award” will be accepted until June 16th and publicly announced by June 30th.
