Families Move Into New Habitat For Humanity Homes

Habitat for Humanity Nantucket announced Friday that the first two families have moved into their new homes at the non-profit's latest development on Waitt Drive.
Milana Capan, who will own 5A Waitt Drive, and David Cunningham and Natasha Levens, who will own 5B Waitt Drive, successfully completed well over their required 350 "sweat equity" hours, a requirement of becoming a Habitat for Humanity homeowner.
The homes are part of the first phase of the Waitt Drive Village, a development of six dwellings on three lots that were deeded to Habitat by the town of Nantucket in early 2024. The project, which will include four single-family homes and a central two-unit duplex, will bring the total number of homes Habitat Nantucket has built on Nantucket since 2001 to 22.

"At Habitat, we are dedicated to building hope for families, our community, and future generations," the organization stated in a press release. "We achieve this by working in partnership with those in need and the Nantucket community to build homes for ownership. This would not be possible without the generous support of the Town, island taxpayers, the Nantucket Affordable Housing Trust, the Nantucket Fund, the Community Preservation Committee, Cape Cod Five Bank, and the Tupancy Harris Foundation."
