Knights Of Columbus Announce 2026-2027 Officers
David Creed •
The island's Knights of Columbus Council #2612 held its annual installation of officers ceremony Sunday morning prior to the 11 a.m. mass at St. Mary, Our Lady Of The Isle Catholic Church. The Grand Knight will once again be Mike Gillies while the Deputy Grand Knights will be Mark Gonnella and Beau Almodobar.
The Knights of Columbus was established in 1926 and the group spends a significant amount of time providing services and charity to the island community. Some of the causes they support include local scholarships, assistance for Seminarians - breakfasts, hospitality gatherings such as coffee/pastries after Masses, manning the grilling events at St. Mary’s cookouts, campaign for people with intellectual disabilities, coats for kids, cemetery “clean-sweeps," visits of care and support, and Parish liturgical support.
In recent years, the Knights have notably spent a night "going homeless" on Ash Wednesday to raise money for The Warming Place two years ago and the Nantucket Food, Fuel, and Assistance Program this year.
