Soverino, who previously served as Nantucket S.T.A.R.'s treasurer, "has been a pivotal figure in the development and execution of Nantucket S.T.A.R.’s mission to provide inclusive recreational activities for individuals with diverse needs. Her background as a special educator at Nantucket Elementary School and as the owner of Murray's Toggery Shop uniquely positions her to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and service to the community."

Founded in 2003 by Renee Gamberoni and Max Goode, Nantucket S.T.A.R. has provided adaptive programs and recreational experiences for individuals with special needs on Nantucket for more than two decades. Over the years, the organization has expanded to offer a wide range of sports, activities, and therapeutic opportunities in a supportive environment.

"I am honored and excited to take on the role of President at Nantucket S.T.A.R.," said Murray Soverino. "This organization holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to continuing our mission of fostering inclusivity and celebrating children with identified needs. I am passionate about advocacy and supporting all members of our unique island community."
