Nantucket's Fourth Of July Events Lineup
Nantucket Current •
The Fourth of July is almost here and we've got a full rundown of what's happening around the island to celebrate Independence Day.
The town's Office of Culture and Tourism is sponsoring events at three locations: Main Street, Children's Beach, and Jetties Beach, which will be closest to the island's fireworks display, shot off from a barge on the water.
Main Street Area
8:30 am-12:30 pm: Sustainable Nantucket’s Farmer’s Market, Cambridge Street between Federal and South Water Streets.
8:30 am-12:30 pm: Food trucks will be located on Federal Street between Main and India Streets.
9:00 am: Reading of the Declaration of Independence at Unitarian Universalist Church
11:00am: Musical performances on Federal Street.
Noon: Water fight between the Nantucket Fire Department and the Boynton Lane Reserves. The public should expect to get wet within the “Spray Zone” but don't expect to get to handle the fire hoses of either NFD or the Boynton Lane Reserves. Both firetrucks will compete for bragging rights to fill 55-gallon drums with water. Attendees are asked to refrain from bringing water balloons, soakers and other 'water competition' materials.
Children’s Beach
10:00 am: P.J. Moody sings the National Anthem and other patriotic music, Children’s Beach bandstand.
10:30 am: Nanpuppets puppet show on the bandstand.
11:00 am: P.J. Moody returns to sing on the bandstand.
11:30 am: Bike parade around the park
10:00 am - Noon: Zofia and Co. Photo Booth on the bandstand
Matt Fee Tea Toss, lawn in front of bandstand
Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals information table, lawn in front of bandstand
Cornhole tournament, lawn in front of bandstand
5:00 pm: Children’s Games on the beach, including 3-legged, wheelbarrow, and potato sack races ending with a tug of war.
Jetties Beach
9:00 pm: Fireworks display. The show lasts approximately 25 to 27 minutes and is shot from a barge just offshore. Patriotic music will be simulcast on 97.7 FM WACK radio.
Starting at 6:00 pm, NRTA Wave buses will depart from in front of the Whaling Museum on Broad Street every 10-15 minutes and will return from Jetties Beach after the fireworks up to 10:30 pm.
