Town Names New DPW Director

Jason Graziadei •

The town has named former Weston & Sampson project engineer Andrew Patnode as Nantucket’s new Department of Public Works Director.

Andrew Patnode

Patnode is a familiar face around Nantucket, having worked on more than 20 town projects including work for the island’s sewer, DPW, and water departments, as well as the school, during his time with Weston & Sampson. Those projects included supervision and engineering services for three sewer pump stations on Nantucket, as well as 15 miles of gravity sewers, water and force mains, storm drains, and road resurfacing.

Patnode has also served as a youth soccer coach on Nantucket with the Boys & Girls Club, the Nantucket Soccer Club, and the Nantucket Public Schools' JV boys team.

He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he earned a degree in civil engineering.

Patnode’s start date is yet to be determined. His starting salary will be $160,000.

Patnode replaces former DPW head Stephen Arceneaux, who resigned in February after just one year on the job.
