The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) announced this week that its 28th Annual Festival of Wreaths will take place this year at a new location: the historic Macy Warehouse at 12 Straight Wharf.

Presented for the first time on the building’s second floor, the festival will offer visitors the opportunity to explore this historic space, all while bidding on their favorite wreaths. Admission will be free to all visitors.

The move to the Macy Warehouse also allows the NHA to expand the Festival of Wreaths beyond its traditional Thanksgiving-week schedule. For the first time, the festival will span nearly two weeks (November 24-December 5), extending through Nantucket’s beloved Christmas Stroll Weekend, alongside the Festival of Trees that opens at the Whaling Museum on December 4.

"We are especially excited to welcome the community into this space for the Festival of Wreaths,” said Niles Parker, NHA Gosnell Executive Director. “Bringing this beloved tradition to the historic Macy Warehouse provides a fresh way to experience this beloved holiday tradition and we are excited for the extended dates, so community members and visitors have more opportunities to experience the community creativity this festival celebrates.”

The Festival of Wreaths, presented by lead sponsor Marine Home Center, is the NHA’s kickoff celebration of the holiday season. This community-driven event features an array of beautifully crafted wreaths created by islanders, local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community organizations. From traditionally decorated greens to imaginative and unconventional arrangements, the Festival of Wreaths captures the creativity and holiday spirit of Nantucket.

Visitors can enjoy the wreaths in person throughout the festival, while an online bidding platform gives the community and beyond the opportunity to view and bid on their favorite designs.

The Festival of Wreaths will kick off with an exclusive Preview Party on Monday, November 23, from 5–7 p.m., with tickets going on sale Wednesday, October 7. Following the Preview Party, the Festival of Wreaths will open to the public on Tuesday, November 24, and remain on view through Saturday, December 5.

Additional details, including ticket information and online bidding, will be available at NHA.org.
