Polished Dental will visit Nantucket Elementary School in early June to continue providing free dental examinations for school-aged children, ages 1 to 18.

The Polished team, led by Ellen Gould, a licensed dental hygienist since 1977 and public health dental hygienist since 2010, has partnered with the Nantucket Community School for 20 years to bring the dental program to the island’s children.

“The Polished Dental team really cares about our children and their dental hygiene,” said Kerrie Willis, early childhood program assistant at the Nantucket Community School. “Ellen and her team go above and beyond to make the child and parent feel comfortable and make this a positive experience for everyone. They are very efficient and take care of every detail. We look forward to them coming every six months.”

Over the past two decades, Gould and her team of dental professionals have completed 7,000 visits. Their most recent trip to the island in December 2024 included visits with 230 school-aged children and 60 preschool children. No child is ever turned away due to financial hardship or lack of insurance.

“The need for pediatric dental care professionals has grown exponentially in recent years,” said Nantucket Community School Executive Director Alicia Graziadei. “We are so thankful to work with Ellen and her team who continue to make these services both available and affordable to all Nantucket children."

Polished will have appointments during the school day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (June 2, 3, 4, and 5). Preschool-aged children will be seen by appointment only on Tuesday, June 3, from 3:00-5:30 p.m. These appointments will take place in the Nantucket Elementary School gymnasium.
