The Theatre Workshop of Nantucket will open its 69th season in June with "The Cottage," a "wildly witty romantic farce" by Sandy Rustin.

Set in a quaint 1920s English cottage that is anything but quiet, "The Cottage" begins with a confession: Sylvia Van Kipness has just revealed to her lover, Beau, who happens to be her brother-in-law, that she is going to leave her husband (who happens to be Beau’s brother).

"What could possibly go wrong? As husbands, wives, lovers, and secrets all come crashing through the cottage door, the stakes — and the hilarity — skyrocket in this razor-sharp homage to Noel Coward’s style, with a modern twist," TWN announced.

The characters and cast of "The Cottage":

  • Sylvia Van Kipness – Elegant, smart, and determined to finally speak her truth... no matter how many hearts it breaks. Played by Ellyn Heald, fresh from Broadway’s The Hills of California.
  • Beau Van Kipness – The dashing (and possibly dim) brother caught in a web of romance, regret, and really bad timing. Played by David Andrew Morton of the 1st Broadway National Tour of To Kill a Mockingbird and Jersey Boys.
  • Clarke Van Kipness – Beau’s stern and serious brother. Husband. Betrayed. And now... back for revenge? Played by Abe Goldfarb of Broadway’s Beetlejuice.
  • Marjorie – Clarke’s wife, sweet and naive — or is she? She's full of surprises, and not all of them are innocent. Played by Drew Springer-Miller.
  • Dierdre – Sylvia’s long-suffering sister, a sharp-tongued realist who arrives to throw a perfectly timed wrench into the chaos. Played by Cathryn Wake, seen on Broadway in The Great Comet.
  • Richard – A proper British gent with improper intentions, determined to keep things tidy… even as everything falls apart. Played by Atticus Shaindlin.

The Cottage is a nonstop rollercoaster of love triangles, outrageous misunderstandings, and nicotine-fueled madness," said director Justin Cerne. "It’s Coward meets Clue meets pure comedy gold.”
