Preparations are underway for what would be Joe Biden's fourth and final visit to Nantucket as President of the United States during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Sources told the Current that Secret Service personnel have already started renting hotel rooms on the island for the cadre of security personnel required for a presidential visit.

“We have not been contacted yet about POTUS making another trip to the island," said Nantucket Police Department Lt. Angus MacVicar. "I, however, wouldn’t doubt he’ll be back."

While the election will be in the rearview by Thanksgiving, Biden will remain President until his successor is sworn into office in January 2025.

The Bidens are expected to renew their tradition of spending the Thanksgiving holiday on the island, which they've been doing for more than 40 years, but the president's schedule is always subject to change on short notice.

Last year President Biden took part in his usual holiday routine on Nantucket - staying at the compound of billionaire David Rubenstein on Nantucket Harbor, dining downtown, and attending the tree lighting ceremony on Main Street - but he was also heckled by protestors calling out his administration's support for Israel in the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Palestine.
