Moakley's office stated that "Turcotte brings a wealth of experience in community advocacy, environmental policy and ecological restoration, making him a valuable addition to the team."

In his role as Nantucket liaison for Moakley, Turcotte will serve as a key point of contact between Moakley’s office and the island community, working to ensure that local concerns are effectively represented in the Massachusetts State Legislature. He will be the point person for helping island residents to navigate state government, keeping tabs on the progress of home rule petitions through the legislature, and identifying priority bills for the island.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of Representative Moakley’s team as we work to make Nantucket a better place," Turcotte said.

Moakely believes Turcotte's background in environmental policy, conservation efforts, and community engagement will help shape legislative priorities that address Nantucket's challenges.

“It is important to me to have someone on-island who can work directly with residents on urgent issues when I am not able to be there myself,” said Moakley, “RJ has a passion for Nantucket that struck me from the very beginning and I am looking forward to working with him. I encourage islanders to reach out to our office to get to know us and let us know how we can be of service.”

Turcotte holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of Rhode Island.
