The Nantucket Community School announced Friday morning that it has hired Isabelle Roberts as the community pool's new aquatics coordinator and Grant Beebe as the pool’s new head swim coach.

Roberts, a member of Nantucket High School's class of 2017, and Beebe, a member of the class of 2021, were both born and raised on the island and are excited about the opportunity to lead the operations of the pool where they’ve spent hundreds of hours swimming throughout the course of their lives.

“I’m really excited to be back at the pool where I spent so many years swimming, teaching, and coaching,” Roberts said. “Growing up at the pool, I know firsthand how impactful a strong aquatics program can be. I’m looking forward to creating an environment where young swimmers have the opportunity to grow and have fun every day, as well as supporting the long-time staff that help keep the program running.”

“Now that I’m living full-time on the island again, I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much,” Beebe said. “Coaching this team is more than just a job—it’s a chance to help the next generation of Nantucket swimmers discover the same joy, discipline, and sense of purpose that swimming has brought into my life.”

Roberts spent 12 years swimming for the Nantucket Dolphins, competed for four years on the Whalers' high school swim team, and went on to swim for Assumption University's Division II program. Roberts has also taught swim lessons and previously coached at the community pool for four years.

Beebe recently completed his collegiate career at UMass Amherst, where he competed as a Division I swimmer and served as senior captain. Beebe set the UMass freshman record in the 100-yard butterfly and was part of the school’s record-holding 400-yard medley relay team.

On Nantucket, Beebe still holds individual records in the 100 and 50-yard butterfly events, along with multiple high school relay records.

“Together, Roberts and Beebe bring experience, enthusiasm, and a shared hometown pride to their new roles, setting the stage for a strong future at the Nantucket Community Pool,” the community school said in a release.
