Ten Island Residents Running In Boston, London Marathons
David Creed •

The 129th Boston Marathon is taking place Monday, April 21st, and there are nine island residents who listed Nantucket as their address participating in the oldest annual marathon in the world, which began in 1897. There will also be an island resident participating in the London Marathon, which is Sunday, April 27th. Below are the island residents who will be running.
Susie Tapley is running for Boston Children’s Hospital and her daughter, Mae Tapley, who turned 10 years old on Sunday, April 20th. You can donate to Susie Tapley’s fund here. You can learn more about Mae Tapley and the runners representing her here.

Hashia Wallace is registered to run the Boston Marathon as a Nantucketer, however the Current was unable to locate a fundraiser for Wallace. If anyone has a link, please send it to davidcreed@n-magazine.com.
Robert O'Day is running the Boston Marathon for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber.
"I’m a Jimmy Fund Kid—a childhood cancer survivor," he says on his fundraising page. "The Dana Farber saved my life, and I want to help kids and families who are in the situation I once faced, and for them to know there's hope, and people rooting for them. When I was 8 years old, I was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. The next few years were a whirlwind of chemo, radiation, and surgeries. I missed an entire year of school, lived in the hospital, and watched my family navigate the fear and uncertainty of my diagnosis. I was overwhelmed, constantly nauseous, and scared that I would not even get the chance to grow up. But the Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund were more than just my treatment team—they became a source of strength. From cutting-edge care to small moments of joy like meeting sports heroes like Ted Williams & Ricky Henderson, they gave me and my family hope when we needed it most. Their compassion and dedication kept me fighting, and their expertise saved my life. Today, I’m healthy and living & working year-round on Nantucket, where running has become my passion."
Additionally, Kezia Duarte will be running the London Marathon and is representing Boston Children’s Hospital and Mae. You can donate to Kezia Duarte’s fund here.
All runners were identified through the Boston Marathon and London Marathon website entry list trackers and have their residence listed as Nantucket.
