The Westmoor Club Foundation and Community Foundation for Nantucket are launching a Health & Wellness Grant Program – with applications set to open on August 15th through the CFN’s online grants portal. The foundation said in a release that the program marks a significant milestone in their mission to strengthen the health and well-being of the Nantucket community by supporting local nonprofit organizations making a meaningful impact.
“During its first grant cycle, the Foundation will award funding to qualified Nantucket nonprofit organizations whose work advances the health and wellness of the island community,” the Westmoor Club said in a release. “Grant decisions will be based on mission alignment, demonstrated community need, organizational capacity, and the potential for meaningful, measurable impact.”
Completed grant applications are due by October 21st.
Logan Gomes, the Westmoor Club Foundation’s director of membership and foundation administration secretary, revealed in the release that the Foundation's inaugural Nurture Nantucket Dinner & Celebration, held in June, raised more than $1,000,000 through donations and multi-year pledges.
“The Community Foundation for Nantucket will administer the grant application process, provide guidance to nonprofit applicants, and conduct organizational due diligence,” Gomes says in the release. “Following CFN's initial review, applications will be evaluated and scored by The Westmoor Club Foundation Board of Directors. Grant recipients are expected to be announced in December 2026.”
CFN executive director Sunny Daily said the Community Foundation for Nantucket is honored to partner with The Westmoor Club Foundation in what she says is an important initiative.
"We know firsthand the extraordinary work being done by our nonprofit community to address health and wellness needs across the island and will bring that expertise to the grant application process,” Daily said. “The addition of The Westmoor Club Foundation's Health & Wellness Grant Program expands the resources available to local nonprofits and underscores the growing commitment among community partners to address Nantucket's most pressing needs."
John Cowden, President of The Westmoor Club Foundation and General Manager of The Westmoor Club, expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming support that made the initiative possible and said the club is “incredibly grateful” for the enthusiasm and generosity demonstrated by its members and friends in support of the Foundation.
"The response to our inaugural Nurture Nantucket Dinner & Celebration exceeded every expectation and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening our island community,” Cowden said. “Because of their generosity, we are able to invest in organizations that are addressing some of Nantucket's most pressing health and wellness challenges and help ensure that every member of our community has the opportunity to thrive."
"We believe health and wellness are foundational to a strong, resilient Nantucket community,” Cowden continued. “Wellness extends far beyond physical health—it includes addressing food insecurity, supporting individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, expanding access to physical and mental healthcare, fostering social connection to reduce isolation, and promoting opportunities for healthy living. By investing in these essential areas, we hope to ensure that members of the Nantucket community have the support they need to live healthy lives."
