Nantucket Needs An Indoor Athletic Complex

Nantucket Soccer Club •

To the editor: We are writing to express our strong support for the construction of an indoor athletic complex in Nantucket. As members of the Nantucket community, we believe that such a facility would provide countless benefits to our town and the many residents who call it home.

First and foremost, an indoor athletic complex would be a tremendous asset to the Nantucket Soccer Club and its 450 registered athletes. With a dedicated indoor space, these athletes would have the opportunity to train and compete year-round, regardless of weather conditions. This would not only improve the quality of play but also the safety of our young athletes, who would no longer be at risk of injury due to adverse weather conditions.

In addition to benefiting the soccer club, the lacrosse club and the men's soccer club an indoor athletic complex would also be a valuable resource for the broader Nantucket

community. The facility could be used for a variety of sports and activities, including basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics, among others. It could also host community events, such as concerts and trade shows, providing a much-needed indoor space for such activities.

Finally, an indoor athletic complex would help to bolster the local economy by attracting tournaments and events that would bring visitors to our town. This would not only benefit local businesses but also generate revenue for the town through increased tourism and event fees.

In conclusion, we urge the Nantucket Select Board and Nantucket Land Bank to seriously consider the construction of an indoor athletic complex in our town.

The benefits to our community, including the Nantucket Soccer Club, are clear, and we believe that such a facility would be a tremendous asset to our town for years to come.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Nantucket Soccer Club
