The Final Vote To Save Our Island Home

Kathy Grieder •

To the editor: On May 19, Nantucket voters have a critical opportunity to shape the future of elder care and rehabilitation on our island. The proposal for a new Our Island Home passed decisively at Town Meeting—but it still needs final approval at the ballot box to move forward. Please make sure to vote YES for the new Our Island Home on Election Day. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nantucket High School.

How You Can Help:

Vote YES on Question #1 on May 19 at the high school 7 am - 8 pm: Your vote is the final step in securing this project.

Approving this project isn’t just about a building. It’s about honoring our values as an island that takes care of its own. The time to act is now. We’ve studied, debated, and planned. Let’s finish the job.

Once Approved - A Campaign Fund is set up:

The Our Island Home Campaign Fund, established through the Community Foundation for Nantucket, will allow for tax-deductible private donations to help reduce the final cost to taxpayers. This public-private partnership demonstrates just how much our community cares about this mission.

I want to personally thank the community for their positive vote at Town Meeting and we look forward to your support on the ballot on May 19th.
