Adam Sandler Plays Pickup Basketball On Nantucket

Adam Sandler was on Nantucket over the weekend - less than 48 hours after officiating the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden - and guess what was on his island itinerary? The legendary actor stopped for a quick game of pickup basketball at the court off Backus Lane.

Andrew Kesler told the Current that he and his friends were playing when Sandler pulled up in a car, got out, and asked to join the game.

“Adam Sandler rolled in a car and started playing pick ups with the boys,” Kesler said. “He's like ‘guys let me stretch I’m going to hop in’.”

Unfamiliar with Nantucket, Sandler actually called the Nantucket Police Department’s non-emergency line to ask where he could find a game, according to public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds.

Sandler said, “Hey, I’m here on your island and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there’s a basketball court I could play on?” Reynolds told the Current. He directed Sandler to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road.

But did Sandler ball out in the pickup game?

“Great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball,” Kesler said.
