Meg Browers has been named executive director of Nourish Nantucket, a promotion from her previous role as the organization's director of development and operations.

“Meg has been a driving force in strengthening Nourish Nantucket and positioning us for long-term impact,” said Nourish Nantucket board chair Brooke Mohr. “Her vision, deep commitment to collaboration, and proven ability to build resources and relationships make her the right leader for this next chapter.”

Her promotion comes in the wake of a $1 million anonymous donation to Nourish, which has enabled the organization to dramatically increase its funding commitments to its food security partners, including the Nantucket Food Pantry.

“We believe deeply in supporting and partnering with those on the front lines of food security,” said Browers. “Our work is about building strong, lasting collaborations so that together we can create a more resilient, equitable, and food-secure Nantucket.”

Programs that receive funding from Nourish Nantucket include the Nantucket Food Pantry, grocery debit cards for food insecure islanders, Pip & Anchor’s Send It Boxes program, Meals on Wheels, HIP/SNAP benefits at the Sustainable Nantucket Farmstand, a weekly produce farm truck at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club, and a weekend backpack program with Nantucket Public Schools and in partnership with Stop & Shop’s School Pantry program.

Food insecurity remains a significant issue on the island. Existing estimates suggest that around one in five island residents struggles to afford food, and the crisis has drawn increasing attention in recent years. Nourish Nantucket, founded in 2024, is part of the new wave of programs aimed at combating food insecurity on-island, which range from in-depth analytical studies to expanded deer hunting and have drawn the attention of organizations from the New York Times to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
