Following the conclusion of a successful commercial scalloping season, the Nantucket Shellfish Association held its second annual celebration, known as "Scallopalooza," on Sunday at Cisco Brewers.
The family-friendly event was co-sponsored by the Brant Point Shellfish Hatchery, the Nantucket Natural Resources Department, the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club, and the Nantucket Harbormaster's office. It featured scallop one-bit samples made by 11 different Nantucket chefs, along with live music, DJ Billy Voss, along with raffles and shellfish education stations.
"With the sunny weather, it was a great way to say goodbye to winter, welcome spring, and celebrate both the Nantucket bay scallop and the positivity of our island community," said Nantucket Shellfish Association executive director Kevin Korn. "It took a lot of work to make happen, but beyond a doubt, it was my favorite shellfish celebration event we have hosted to date. That’s a credit to everyone involved, including the guests who came and enjoyed the day with us."
