The Whaler football team's offensive struggles continued Friday night at Vito Capizzo Stadium. They were shutout 7-0 by the Sandwich Blue Knights, dropping their record to 0-5 this season with just three games to go.
The Whaler's defense had a strong day preventing Blue Knights senior captain Brady Carroll from breaking off large runs, and held him to his one touchdown.
Some notable performances on the Whaler's end of things included senior captain and defensive end Ian Williams, who finished the game with a team-high eight tackles. Senior captain and defensive end Jeremy Caspe had six tackles and a sack. Junior running back and safety Jayquan Francis had six tackles and 47 yards rushing.
Nantucket will travel to Nauset next Friday, October 14 for a 4:30 p.m. game against the Warriors. Nauset is 3-2 this season, with their most recent performance coming on Friday in the form of a 41-13 beat down of Martha's Vineyard on the road.
The Warriors also have wins over East Bridgewater (21-14) and North Middlesex Regional (32-21). Their losses came against the Falmouth Clippers (14-13) and Norwell (27-0).
