The girls hockey team hosted Ursuline Academy on Saturday and lost 6-4 in what was a back and forth battle between the two teams with several lead changes throughout the game.
Nantucket was led offensively by eighth grade forward Olivia Shuttleworth, who scored two goals. Meghan Olson scored the first Whaler's goal and senior captain Alex Wisentaner scored on a blast from the point in Saturday's matinee matchup.
In other Whaler sports news, the varsity girls basketball team traveled to Nauset to play the Warriors Tuesday evening and lost 33-26. Whaler head coach Angela Paterson said she was pleased with the defense again, but more consistent offense and turnovers continue to be areas they need to improve in.
The girls hockey team will be back in action on Sunday, January 25th at 11 a.m. when they host Plymouth South High School. The girls basketball team will play again on Thursday, January 22nd at home against the Barnstable Red Hawks at 5 p.m.
