The boys lacrosse team beat Dartmouth High School 10-3 on Tuesday, improving their record to 6-1 this season.

Whaler head coach Sam Aloisi said Dartmouth’s goalie was good, but midfielder David Cirillo did a great job on faceoffs to allow Nantucket to have the ball for at least two-thirds of the game, which gave them more opportunities to score. He added that their shooting was “awful” in the first half.

Nantucket was led in scoring by midfielder Arann Hanlon, who had three goals and an assist. It was a balanced offensive attack with Jake Grant scoring two goals and adding an assist, Canton Jenkinson and Noah Stringer each scoring one goal and adding two assists, Miles Beaudette scoring one goal and adding one assist, and Nolen Mosscrop and Andrick Mooney each scoring one goal. Tyler Miller had one assist.

Junior goalie Jeremy Jenkinson made 10 saves on the 13 shots he faced.

Nantucket is in a good position early on this season as they hope to go on another deep tournament run in June. They are currently the #4 seed in the first Div. 4 state tournament bracket released by the MIAA.

But some tough games are ahead this week for Nantucket. They will have a road matchup against the Falmouth Clippers on Thursday, May 1st at 3 p.m. Falmouth is currently the #4 seed in the Div. 3 state tournament bracket. They also beat the Norwell Clippers, who are the number two seed in Div. 4 and have beaten strong programs such as Xaverian 11-10, who are the #9 seed in Div. 1.

Then on Saturday, May 3rd, the Whalers will be on the road against the Cohasset Skippers. The Skippers have some notable wins and are the #3 seed in Div. 4. They beat the Duxbury Dragons, who are the #4 seed in Div. 2, 9-6 at home. Nantucket’s game against Cohasset is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
