The girls hockey team lost to the Barnstable Red Hawks 8-2 Monday evening. Their two goals came from senior captains Claire Misurelli and Emerson Pekarcik. Senior assistant captain Bailey Lower had two assists.

Senior goalie Siena Monto got the start in net and head coach Andrew McNeilly was very pleased with how she performed.

“We had a very good first period. Siena Monto stood on her head,” McNeilly said. “There is nobody on this team who wants to play hockey more than she does. I would take 100 Siena Montos on my team. She wants it so bad. She loves it. Unfortunately in the second period, we didn’t support her enough.”

Nantucket has just two more games remaining as they search for that first win. Their next game is Friday, February 16th on the road against the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins at 4 p.m. The Whalers hosted DY last week on February 7th. Senior assistant captain scored four goals, but Nantucket ultimately lost 8-5.
