The girls lacrosse team improved to 13-2 this season following a pair of road victories Wednesday afternoon and a home victory on the Nobadeer Turf Field Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, the Whalers played a doubleheader featuring the Monomoy Sharks at 2 p.m. and the Sturgis West Navigators at 5 p.m. Nantucket beat the Sharks 16-7 and officially swept the season series after beating them 15-5 earlier this season on the island. Nantucket followed their win over the Sharks up with a 14-4 win over the Navigators, who they beat 14-2 earlier this season on the island.

Against the Sharks, the Whalers were led by Dylan Damian, who scored four goals and added an assist while Carley Ray and Louisa Beni scored three goals each with Ray adding an assist. Madi Boulter and Rowan Paul scored twice. Quinn Canty had a goal and an assist while Grace Schroeder scored one goal. Ella Douglas finished with seven saves.

Against Sturgis, Beni was the star of the Whaler's offense leading the way with four goals and three assists. Grace Hanlon, Ray, and Paul each had two goals with Paul adding an assist. Canty, Jimmie Verney, Schroeder, and Rosie Sullivan each had one goal. Canty tallied two assists and Sullivan added one assist. Douglas was impressive again in net, making 10 saves.

Then on Thursday, the Whalers welcomed the St. John Paul II Lions to the island on a wet, rainy, sloppy day, which prompted the game to be moved last minute to the Nobadeer Turf Field. The Whalers beat the Lions 14-13 in overtime on the road April 13th and on Thursday won more handily by a score of 19-12.

Beni had the best game of her season from a goals standpoint, finishing with nine on the day. She continues to flourish and prove to be more than capable of being a centerpiece of a Whaler attack that welcomed many new faces this spring. Schroeder finished with four goals and two assists. Hanlon and Damian each scored twice and tallied three assists. Canty and Paul each scored once, with Canty also adding an assist.

The Whalers are now 13-2 and currently sit at #9 in the MIAA's latest Division 4 Power Rankings, but that ranking does not factor in Wednesday's or Thursday's victories. New rankings will be released late Friday morning.

Nantucket will be back in action on Tuesday, May 19th for the final game of their season when they travel to play Falmouth Academy at 3 p.m. The Whalers beat Falmouth Academy on the island earlier this season 18-3.
