The Whaler boys soccer team was able to get back on track after going 0-2-1 in their last three matches by beating the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins 2-0 on the island Monday afternoon. The victory improved their record to 9-2-1 overall and an impressive 8-1 in Cape & Island Atlantic Division League Play.

Nantucket’s first goal came just five minutes into the game when Aldo Lemus was able to assist Alec Anguelov and then roughly 10 minutes into the second half, Calvin Guevara was able to bury a penalty kick to extend Nantucket’s lead. Parker Furtado finished with seven saves on the day.

"It was good to get back with the W," Whaler head coach Rich Brannigan II said after the game. “We talked about us just giving a consistent, solid effort, and we were very steady today. We didn't have a lot of ups or downs, so that's good. We want to try to get rid of those big peaks and those low valleys and play at a constant level we know we can play at, and we did that for 80 minutes today. Sure, we could have had a few more than our two goals, but it was a good refresh.”

Nantucket will be back in action on Thursday, October 22nd on the road against the Abington Green Wave at 3:30 p.m. Below are some photos taken during Monday’s game by Chris Tran.
