The goal scorers for the Whalers were Chelsea Gross (x2), Adney Brannigan (x2), Claire Misurelli, Emery Bouchard, and Emma Woodbury. Nantucket scored five of their seven goals came in the first 25 minutes of the first half.
Star junior striker Adney Brannigan, who scored 34 goals last season, was injured early on in the second half with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Brannigan had two goals and assisted on another two at the time of her injury, which will be something to monitor moving forward.
Boys & Girls Cross Country Lose First Meets Of Season
The Whaler boys & girls cross country teams lost their meets to Dennis-Yarmouth 20-40 and 19-42 respectively.
While times are not available as of now, Bailey Lower and Hannah Harrington finished with the top two times for girls while Rory Murray and Dorian Manov finished with the top two times for boys.
“Today went well,” head coach Lisa Wisentaner said. “We didn’t win but it was a great benchmark race. We had all of the kids running so it will be great to see their times improve as the season goes on. I’m really proud of them. We have a lot of young runners that really stepped up today. Finley Seip and Nicolas Ferantella moved up from CPS (8th) to run with the boys and Keegan Farrell (8th) ran with the girls. They all earned points and had a great start to the season. I’m excited to see their improvement as the season gets underway.”
