Driver Abandons Vehicle Following Crash On Milestone Road

Members of the Nantucket Fire and Police Departments responded to the area of Milestone Road and Tom Nevers after receiving a report of a single vehicle accident Monday morning.
Upon arrival, public safety officials were unable to locate the driver. The car had initially been smoking according to the reporting party. Sources told the Current the driver was a juvenile.
The response caused heavy traffic congestion with Milestone Road being temporarily blocked off as the fire department assessed the damage to the vehicle and searched for signs of the driver.
There were no signs of blood or injury amidst the wreckage, and no charges have been filed as of Tuesday morning.
