Alison Stravato, the operations supervisor for the Nantucket District Court, was named as a recipient of a Massachusetts Trial Excellence Award, which is bestowed upon court employees, staff, or legal advocates who demonstrate, "outstanding public service, dedication, and contributions to the administration of justice."
Stravato was one of over 160 nominees across all categories and one of just two individual recipients in the District Court category.
"I didn't expect this at all but it is exciting," Stravato said. "I was really happy when I heard I had won this and started getting emails and texts from people. Between the logistics and stuff of being out on an island, it can be a lot to put things together here at the (Nantucket District) court."
Stravato has been with the court for six years and an island resident for two decades. There will be a ceremony on November 19th at the at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston.
"We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2026 Trial Court Excellence Awards and encourage everyone to join us in congratulating our colleagues," Heidi E. Brieger, the Chief Justice of the Trial Court, said in a release. "From over 160 nominations, department leaders had the challenging task of selecting finalists from a pool of very qualified nominees. We then identified 25 individuals and four teams from across the Trial Court to celebrate their outstanding contributions. These winners reflect the great work hundreds of staff members do every day. Their dedication and commitment further our mission to deliver Justice with dignity and speed. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding colleagues. We look forward to the awards presentation at the John Adams Courthouse."
