The 129th Boston Marathon came and went on Monday with nine island residents participating in the oldest annual marathon in the world, which began in 1897. Below are the times recorded by each runner.

The first island runner to complete the Boston Marathon was 62 year old Jim Congdon. He finished with a time of 3:19:52. Congdon placed 102nd out of 1,258 men in the 60-64 age bracket, as well as the top 50 percent of all male runners in the race.

George Vasvatekis, 36, completed the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:21:09. Vasvatekis, who lives in Sconset, met up with Congdon after the race. He said he loves running with Congdon and learning from him.

“The old bull got the best of me by a minute or two,” Vasvatekis joked.
