Mark Poor Resigns From Zoning Board Of Appeals

Zoning Board of Appeals alternate Mark Poor has resigned, the second member of the island’s adjudicatory authority for zoning matters to leave the board in less than a month.

In a brief resignation letter submitted to Zoning Board of Appeals chair Susan McCarthy, Poor gave no reason for his resignation.

“It’s been a pleasure to serve on the Board and to assist my community,” Poor wrote.

The Select Board accepted Poor’s resignation on Wednesday.

If he had not resigned, Poor’s term would have expired in six weeks anyway, but he chose to exit early. Poor’s seat will be filled by the Select Board through the usual annual appointment process.

Poor’s departure follows close on the heels of Joe Marcklinger’s resignation from the Zoning Board of Appeals. Marcklinger resigned at the end of March for personal reasons. The two resignations leave the Zoning Board of Appeals with four regular members and two alternates.

The town has also seen several other high-profile resignations in the last several months, including Planning Board member John Kitchener, Finance Director Brian Turbitt, and Health Director Roque Miramontes. There is no clear pattern to the resignations. Most board members and staff who have resigned do not seem to be leaving on bad terms with the town administration.

Turbitt has just been announced as the incoming Chief Financial Officer for the city of Framingham, as reported by the MetroWest Daily News.
