Nantucket Intermediate School Launches November Food Drive
Nantucket Current •
The Nantucket Intermediate School (NIS) has launched a food drive to donate food and dry goods to the Nantucket Food Pantry.
"The NIS Food Drive is a team effort of students and teachers of grades 3, 4, and 5," NIS teacher George MacLellan said in a message to families. "This a voluntary activity with a goal of involving students and families in helping a great local cause. We know that helping others is helping ourselves."
The drive will run through Monday, November 25th, and the public can participate by contributing to a donation box for canned and dry goods in the NIS lobby.
Last year's NIS food drive resulted in a donation of 801 pounds of goods to the Food Pantry. This year's goal is 1,000 pounds.
"Our November food drive will help families, friends, and neighbors in our
community," MacLellan said.
The Food Pantry cannot accept expired food items, so please check the dates.
