The M/V Nantucket went offline on Monday afternoon when water was found in the vessel voids.

The 50-year-old boat was taken to Fairhaven for repairs, and will be offline for "an indeterminate time," according to Steamship Authority communications director Sean Driscoll.

The boat line is now running a freight boat, the M/V Katama, in its place on the Nantucket-Hyannis route, and the Steamship "will evaluate other options once the scop of the needed work is more clear," Driscoll added.

In an advisory posted online Tuesday, the Steamship stated that "online booking on the Hyannis-Nantucket route is temporarily unavailable through November 17 due to the change. The M/V Katama may not be able to accommodate all booked vehicles due to size limitations. Passenger cutoffs are also likely to occur, so please plan accordingly."
