Restaurateur Steve Silverstein Appears Poised To Take Over Tavern & Gazebo

Days after the final mudslide was served at The Gazebo by outgoing proprietor Luke Tedeschi, it looks like the iconic building will soon have a new manager. And, as the Current first reported was likely last May, it appears property owner Nantucket Island Resorts is going to award a new lease for the establishment to a group led by restaurateur Steve Silverstein.
Silverstein, who owns ServedWell Hospitality, currently runs the Brotherhood of Thieves in downtown Nantucket as well as Cisco Brewers’ New Bedford location, and founded the Not Your Average Joe’s restaurant chain.

An agenda posting for the Select Board’s licensing and petitions meeting next Monday includes requests for alcohol and live entertainment permits for a new restaurant at 1 Harbor Square, the address of The Tavern and Gazebo.
The posting names the new restaurant as "One Harbor," and lists the manager as James Strobino. Strobino is connected to Servedwell Hospitality, Silverstein’s restaurant group, and Strobino’s LinkedIn profile lists him as the chief operating officer and a partner of the Cisco Kitchen & Bar in New Bedford.
Silverstein is also listed as the manager of record for "Servedwell Straight Wharf," the limited liability company behind One Harbor.
The Select Board will vote on whether to grant the new licenses to ServedWell Straight Wharf on Monday.
The Gazebo drew significant attention last May when manager Luke Tedeschi announced that real estate mogul Steve Karp’s Nantucket Island Resorts had declined to offer him a lease extension. Tedeschi had been the manager of the Gazebo since 1993 and the sole owner of the business since 2022.
Tedeschi told the Current on Wednesday that he has no comment on the latest development in the Gazebo saga.
