The town of Nantucket has been awarded $175,000 through the state's Seasonal Communities Grant Program (SCGP) to support ongoing affordable housing initiatives on the island.

The funding will support the renovation of existing dwellings, due diligence work on vacant land owned by the Nantucket Affordable Housing Trust, and updates to the Trust’s Declaration of Trust to advance year-round housing initiatives serving households earning up to 250 percent of Area Median Income (AMI).

This work directly supports the Select Board’s Strategic Plan focus area on housing, which prioritizes increasing year-round housing opportunities and strengthening the Town’s capacity to advance housing projects.

“This funding strengthens the groundwork for creating more year-round housing on Nantucket,” said Municipal Housing Director Kristie Ferrantella. “From renovating existing homes to preparing vacant sites for development and enhancing the Affordable Housing Trust’s structure, these investments move us closer to delivering meaningful housing opportunities for our community.”

The Seasonal Communities Grant Program, administered by the Healey-Driscoll Administration, provides resources to municipalities facing unique housing pressures due to seasonal economies. Additional information about the statewide grant awards is available at this link.
