The Whaler football team sailed over to Nauset in search of their first win on Friday against the Warriors, but went home disappointed following a 36-6 defeat. They are now 0-6 this season with two regular season games to go.

The Whalers were able to erase the zero on the scoreboard on the final play of the game thanks to senior running back Griffin Fox, who provided the Whalers with one of the few bright spots on the day.

The Warriors got the scoring going quickly on a 57-yard touchdown pass, and followed it up with another scoring drive after Nantucket fumbled the ball on their first play from scrimmage. The Warriors converted on the two-point conversion both times to make it a 16-0 game with 3:17 to go in the first quarter.

The Whaler's defense began to make some stops and give Nantucket a chance to get back in the game, but midway through the second quarter another fumble by Nantucket gave Nauset the ball on the Whaler 6-yard line. The Warriors made the most of the gift and extended their lead to 22-0 with 5:04 to go in the first half.

The Whalers had to punt on the following possession, but senior safety Sam Cristler made a nice over-the-shoulder interception to give Nantucket one more crack at putting some points on the scoreboard with 1:33 to go in the first half, but to no avail.

The Warriors went on to score two more times in the second half. Ball security and missed assignments were the story of the game once again.

Nantucket's next game is at home against the Falmouth Clippers on Saturday, October 22 at 3 p.m. Above are some photos from Friday's game.
