Boys Lax #4, Girls Lax #8 In Respective Tournament Brackets

The boys lacrosse team will begin their state title defense this weekend after earning another top five finish in the Div. 4 state tournament bracket. Nantucket will be #4 in this year’s bracket after finishing as the #1 seed last year as they went on to beat the Sandwich Blue Knights 7-6 in the state title game.
The Whalers finished the regular season 12-5 and will host the #29 seeded Lenox Memorial High School Millionaires (10-7) on Saturday, May 31st at 4 p.m. The Whalers and Millionaires did not have any common opponents this year.
Lenox High School was the #30 seed in last year’s Div. 4 state tournament and lost to the Sandwich Blue Knights 17-3. If Nantucket were to advance, they would play the winner of #13 Sandwich (in a state title rematch) or #20 Rockland on Nantucket.
Led by senior captain Mayson Lower, who scored her 100th career goal last week, up front and senior captain Maddie Lombardi and junior Myah Johnson on defense, the girls lacrosse team earned another top 10 finish in the Div. 4 state tournament bracket.
The Whalers will be the #8 seed in this year’s tournament. They begin their tournament run at home on Saturday, May 31st at 1 p.m. against #25 Wahconah Regional High School – right before the boys lacrosse team plays.
Nantucket finished their regular season with a 13-4 record while Wahconah finished with a 12-7 record.
These two teams did not have any common opponents during the regular season. Wahconah High School did not qualify for the state tournament last season.
