This Whaler sports roundup includes updates on the girls and boys tennis teams after their Div. 4 state tournament brackets were released, as well as the baseball and softball teams after their regular season finales.
Girls Tennis #8, Boys Tennis #18 In State Tournament Brackets

The girls tennis team will begin the 2025 postseason at home against Randolph High School on Thursday, May 29th at 4 p.m. The girls are ranked #8 while Randolph is ranked #25.
Nantucket finished their season with an 8-6 record while Randolph finished with a 7-9 record. These two teams did not have any common opponents during the regular season.
The boys tennis team earned the #18 seed and they will travel to play #15 Rockland High School on Wednesday, May 28th at 3:30 p.m. The boys finished with a 5-10 record while Rockland finished with an 11-7 record. The two teams did not face any common opponents.
Softball Finishes Season 8-12

The softball team was able to end their season on a high note by sweeping their three-game slate over the weekend to complete their regular season with an 8-12 record.
The Whalers welcomed Martha’s Vineyard to the island on Saturday, May 24th and won 12-0. They ended the year with a doubleheader against O’Bryant High School on the island Monday morning/afternoon, winning game one 14-13 and game two 16-7.
Nantucket will not be in this year’s tournament as they were #46 in the latest bracket. The top 32 teams qualify, as well as all teams that finish with a record of .500 or better.
Baseball Loses Pair To Martha’s Vineyard

The Whaler baseball team saw their season come to an end on Monday following an 11-0 loss to Martha’s Vineyard on Nantucket. They also lost to the Vineyard 10-0 on Saturday on the road.
For a third straight year, the Whalers improved their win total. After finishing 1-15 in 2022-2023, Nantucket finished 5-15 last spring and this year, end the season with an 8-12 record. The Whalers will also be graduating just one senior – captain Hansen Dalton – which means the team will be mostly intact entering next spring with another year of experience under their belt.
Nantucket did not qualify for the state tournament.
