Sports Roundup: Boys Tennis Beats Monomoy, Girls Tennis Losses Home Match

This Whaler sports roundup includes an update on the boys tennis team following a road victory and an update on the girls tennis team following a home loss, as well as some photos from the match.
Boys Tennis Beats Monomoy
The boys tennis team improved to 7-4 this season following a 3-2 victory on the road against the Monomoy Sharks Monday afternoon, earning some revenge after Monomoy beat the Whalers on the island earlier this season on April 6th 3-2.
Knox Keating continues to have a strong spring and earned one of three wins for the Whalers on Monday as their second singles player. Keating beat his opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Max Iancu stepped into the third singles slot and came through for head coach David Cheever, beating his opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
The second doubles pairing featured Alec Anguelov and Rojus Rascius, and they won their match in a tiebreaker. They lost the first set 4-6 and then won the second set 6-2. They won the 10 point tiebreaker 10-3.
Nantucket is currently the #29 seed in the latest MIAA Division 3 State Tournament bracket and will attempt to improve to 8-4 when they host Cape Cod Academy at 4 p.m.
Girls Tennis Losses To Monomoy
The girls tennis team hosted the Monomoy Sharks Monday afternoon and lost 5-0. The loss snapped their eight-match winning streak, and they are now 9-4 this season.
In the MIAA's latest Division 3 Power Rankings, the Whalers slotted in as the #21 seed. They will try to get back in the win column on Wednesday, May 6th on the road against Cape Cod Academy at 3:30 p.m.

The boys tennis team will be HOME playing Cape Cod Academy at 4 p.m.
The boys lacrosse team will be on the road playing the Falmouth Clippers at 4:15 p.m.
Thursday, May 7th:
The sailing team will be HOME for a regatta against Nauset at 4 p.m.
The boys lacrosse team will be HOME against Sandwich at 4:15 p.m.
