Sports Roundup: Boys Tennis Senior Day, Updated Power Rankings

Boys Tennis Honors Krastev Ahead Of Senior Match

The boys tennis team hosted the Martha's Vineyard Vineyarders early Tuesday afternoon and celebrated their lone senior - first singles player Nik Krastev - before the match. Head coach David Cheever thanked Krastev for becoming a leader and praised his growth and maturity over the years.

Krastev won his match in thrilling fashion. After winning the first set 7-5, he lost the second set 5-7. This led to a third set, first to 10 showdown which Krastev won 10-6.

Nantucket finishes the regular season with an 8-8 record and now awaits the revealing of the MIAA Division 3 state tournament bracket.

Below are some photos from yesterday’s Whaler baseball game against the St. John Paul II Lions, which Nantucket lost 19-3. The Whalers have already clinched a playoff spot with their 10-7 record and have one game remaining against Martha’s Vineyard at home on Saturday, May 23 at 12 p.m.

On Tuesday, the girls lacrosse and girls tennis teams were on the road playing Martha’s Vineyard. The girls lacrosse team won 15-4 and improved their record to 15-2 while the girls tennis team lost 5-0 and dropped to 12-6 this season. The tennis team's regular season is now complete and they will await the release of the MIAA Division 3 State Tournament Bracket.

Girls Tennis

Baseball
is #50 in the Division 3 Power Rankings and clinched a playoff berth with a record of .500 or better.

Softball
is #71 in the Division 3 Power Rankings.

Wednesday, May 20th:


The girls lacrosse team will be on the road playing Falmouth Academy at 3:45 p.m.

The softball team will be HOME playing Falmouth High School at 4:30 p.m.


Thursday, May 21st:


The boys lacrosse team will host Pembroke High School at 4 p.m.
