Sports Roundup: Field Hockey Beats Sturgis East

This Whaler sports roundup includes an update on the field hockey team following a blowout victory on the road and the volleyball team.

Field Hockey Shuts Out Sturgis East

The Whaler field hockey team improved their record to 7-4 following a dominant 7-0 victory over the Sturgis East Storm Thursday afternoon.

The goal scoring came from several players on Thursday – led by Clementine Kelly who scored two goals. Sadie Paterson, Marin Mooney, Carley Ray, Rowan Paul, and Ella Douglas each scored one goal.

The updated field hockey power rankings will be revealed on Friday at 11 a.m. The Whalers have been firmly inside of the Div. 3 state tournament’s top 10 all year, and as of Thursday are at #7.

Nantucket has six games to play through October 25th, so they’ll be busy moving forward. They will travel to play the Falmouth Clippers on Monday, October 13th at 10:30 a.m. and then host Dennis-Yarmouth on Wednesday, October 15th at 4 p.m.

Volleyball Loses On The Road

The Whaler volleyball team lost to lost to the Sturgis West Navigators 3-0 Wednesday afternoon on the road. The sets were as followed.

Set One:
25-5 Sturgis West

Set Two:
25-12 Sturgis West

Set Three:
25-18 Sturgis West

Nantucket is now 2-7 and their next game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15th at 4 p.m. on the road against 4 p.m.


SCHEDULE AHEAD:

Friday, October 10th:

The football team will host Nauset High School at 5:30 p.m.

The girls soccer team will be on the road playing Diman Regional/Vocational High School at 3:30 p.m.

The volleyball team will be on the road playing Mashpee High School at 3:45 p.m.
