This week’s Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions, as well as last Friday’s court session. It is led by the island resident who crashed into a utility pole in the area of Tom Nevers back in March, which left hundreds of people without power into the next day.

Vincent G. Goulding, 26, of Nantucket will have March 7th charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete the probation without a violation. A license plate violation and operating an unregistered motor vehicle charge stemming from the same incident were dismissed.

Goulding was the island resident who was driving a blue pickup truck and crashed into a utility pole in March on Tom Nevers Road, snapping the pole and leaving hundreds of island residents without power for a day as National Grid employees worked to fix the damage. Yojan Arley Zuleta Areiza, 19, of Nantucket was arraigned on May 4thcharges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and a marked lanes violation. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Oct. 14 for a pretrial hearing.

Samantha M. Brownell, 36, of Nantucket will have Sept. 3rd, 2024 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year on the condition she complete her probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education program, forfeit her license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees. Charges of child endangerment while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a marked lanes violation, and speeding stemming from the same incident were dismissed.

After being continued without a finding for one-year, Christian J. Clifford, 39, of Nantucket had a June 10th, 2024 operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol dismissed.

Miles P. Coleman, 37, of Nantucket was arraigned on April 21st charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle (two counts), leaving the scene of property damage, a marked lanes violation (two counts), and failure to stop/yield. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Sept. 15th for a pretrial hearing.

Joshua D. Holdgate, 37, of Nantucket was arraigned on May 12th charges of leaving the scene of property damage, improper storage of a firearm, failure to drive in the right lane, speeding, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Aug. 26th for a pretrial hearing.

Julie R. Hilberg-Hunt
, 53, of Nantucket was arraigned on an Aug. 7th charge of assault & battery on a family/household member. She had a not-guilty plea entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court Oct. 20th for a pretrial hearing.

Rowan G. MacLachlan, 19, of Nantucket was arraigned on a June 25thcharge of leaving the scene of property damage. He had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Sept. 8th for a pretrial hearing.

After being continued without a finding for one year, Jonathan H. Renz, 62, of Nantucket had a June 13th, 2024 charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol dismissed.

Jayci R. Seliger, 25, of Nantucket was arraigned on June 30th charges of malicious destruction of property over $1,200, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, motor vehicle not meeting RMV safety standards, and a license plate violation. She had not-guilty pleas entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court Sept. 15th for a pretrial hearing.
