This Current Court Report includes arraignments and dispositions from the Monday and Tuesday Nantucket District Court sessions. This week is jury week in Nantucket District Court, so there will be cases through Friday.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Andre Hamilton, the 33 year old man hospitalized following the June 23rd downtown stabbing. He failed to appear in court for his arraignment session on charges of assault & battery and assault & battery with a dangerous weapon.
Kemar Downer, the other individual involved in the accident charged with stabbing Hamilton after he was attacked from behind, was in court on Monday for his pretrial hearing and has not missed a court session to date.
Jose Moises Juarez Chavez, 28, of Nantucket had an April 12th, 2025 charge of malicious destruction of property under $1,200 dismissed after completing six months of pretrial probation.
Valdiney Severino Fernandes, 32, of Nantucket had June 9th, 2026 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, obstructed/nontransparent window, and license plate violation dismissed.
Joshua D. Holdgate, 38, of Nantucket will have May 12th, 2025 charges of improper storage of a firearm and negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete the probation without a violation and not possess a firearm during his probation. Charges of leaving the scene of property damage, failure to drive in the right lane, and speeding stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
David Lemus Castro Jr., 22, of Nantucket will have a July 28th charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete the probation without a violation and complete a driver education program. Charges of failure to stop/yield, speeding, and failiure to stop for police were dismissed.
Freddy Antonio Lopez Zamora, 37, of Nantucket will have a May 8th charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete his probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education course, forfeit his license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle stemming from the same incident was dismissed.
Josmar Luna Peralta, 23, of Nantucket will have a May 16th charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete his probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education course, forfeit his license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees. Charges of possessing an open container of alcohol while in a motor vehicle and obstructed/non-transparent window stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
Moris Humberto Maldonado, 45, of Nantucket had November 16th, 2025 charges of assault & battery on a family/household member (two counts) and assault & battery with a dangerous weapon (four counts) dismissed due to lack of prosecution after the alleged victim in the case declined to cooperate with prosecutors.
Ryan J. McNeil, 27, of Nantucket will have a July 3rd charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding for one year on the condition he complete his probation without a violation, complete a driver alcohol education course, forfeit his license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees. Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation stemming from the same incident were dismissed.
Luis F. Flores Mendoza, 33, of Nantucket was arraigned on July 31st charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, failure to wear a seat belt, motor vehicle lights violation, and possessing an open container of alcohol while in a motor vehicle. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court August 25th for a pretrial hearing.
Gela Orbetishvili Chachkanishvf, 34, of Nantucket was found not guilty by Judge James Sullivan in a bench trial on November 28th, 2025 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Kedrick K. Pleasant, 49, of Nantucket was found not-guilty by Judge James Sullivan following a bench trial on a September 3rd, 2025 charge of violating an harassment prevention order.
Thomas A. Riche, 34, of Nantucket had a July 10th charge of assault & battery on a person over the age of 60 dismissed due to lack of prosecution after the alleged victim in the case declined to cooperate with prosecutors.
Bishnu P. Simkhada, 51, of Nantucket pleaded guilty to a March 9th, 2025 charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (second offense) and will have charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of property damage stemming from the same incident continued without a finding. He was ordered to complete one year of probation, complete a driver alcohol education course, forfeit his license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees.
Aleksander Stevovic, 24, of Nantucket was found guilty in Nantucket District Court by an island jury on a June 16th charge of assault & battery on a public employee. He was ordered to complete six months of probation. Stevovic was charged with shoving a Nantucket Police Department community serviceofficer over a downtown parking dispute, approaching a different CSO the next day to accuse them of reporting him, and then threatening to get the officer fired. He was charged with intimidating a witness/juror/police/court official as well, however that case is still open.
